Many residents noticed the site work happening on the south side of Dripping Springs Road under the powerlines, and residents of Organ Mesa received a door hanger notice that there will be a two-hour power outage for them on February 28 beginning at 2pm.
The Talavera Community Association contacted El Paso Electric for more information and the engineer overseeing the project told us today they are switching out a power transmission line and installing a station under the power lines. This will be an open set of transformers which is now required because of the increased load from the almost 800 homes in Talavera. There is no work beyond that necessary to the upgrade planned there at this time.
The access road built to reach under the powerlines will remain, almost certainly as a gravel road. There may be some brief traffic delays when they bring in the transformers, which we will try to inform the community about as soon as we know more.
