Neighborhood Potluck & Meeting
Saturday, November 15, 2014

Greetings from the Talavera Community Association Board of Directors! As summer passes by and things cool off we are ready to move into our community activities this fall.

Our next community cleanup and potluck/meeting will take place on Saturday, November 15th. It should be cool and pleasant (too cool for rattlesnakes) as we come together to keep our community the way we like it, free of trash and debris that has accumulated during the summer.

There will be a dumpster at the firehouse to dump trash. Residents can think about clearing brush that is close to their house that could burn in a grassland fire and endanger their house. A burn-free zone around your house is important as New Mexico gets drier and fire danger increases.

The cleanup starts at the firehouse at 9:00 am, where road assignments can be picked up along with trash bags, and who knows, maybe t-shirts!.

The potluck will start at 5:30 pm at the firehouse with the TCA providing brisket and chicken, and community residents bringing a dish to share with your neighbors. Immediately after the community meal we will get together to talk about topics of importance and information relevant to the community. These include:

  • rezoning west of Tortugas (A) Mountain
  • the Verizon tower
  • the Soledad Canyon Road study, including a possible bicycle/walking path
  • safe driving in our community
  • an update on the new animal control ordinance
  • propane will be going up $0.32/gal (to $2.64/gal) in November…consider topping off now to avoid the higher rates

Please feel free to bring up any topics you would like the community to know or to discuss together, and to contact Douglas Hoffman or another Board member (see www.talaveraca.org/contacts for contact info for the whole Board). See you at these events!
