PRC Votes 3-2 in Favor of Talavera Substation
PRC District 5 Commissioner Stephen Fischmann reports:
Last Wednesday, (5/1/2019) the (PRC) commission voted 3-2 to allow the Talavera substation build out. I did manage to gain acknowledgement from at least two commissioners that the process for approving and building substations and electric distribution lines deserves review based on the fact that EPE distribution investment has grown over 80% in the last decade while actual energy delivered to retail customers has increased only 15%. Distribution investment represents about a third of EPE’s total capital investment.
While I am disappointed in the result, I am hopeful that we are laying the groundwork for better tracking and regulating the costs of this previously ignored contributor to utility costs.
