Residents who attended the TCA meeting on Saturday, February 11th, heard Talavera resident John Smith report on the frequency of sonic booms in our area and the potential for structural damage (not to mention what they do to my dog!). John has volunteered to consolidate and coordinate damage claims in our area. Once claims have been submitted and a record compiled, it will be used to try to convince the Air Force to move the boundaries of their training air space east of the Organs. If you have noticed damage to your dwelling or other structures on your property, please contact John. John’s contact information is email: american1776@msn.com or by phone at 575-532-1925.
Here are the minutes from the general membership meeting held on Saturday, February 11. There is also a link posted on the ‘Minutes’ page of the web site. The first Sierra Vista Trail run has been set for Saturday, February 18th. Three distances are available: Marathon, half-marathon, and a 5-mile option. All routes will begin at the Sierra Vista Trail trail head on Soledad Canyon road. The 5 mile route will head north on the new section of the Sierra Vista Trail and turn around at the Dripping Springs road trail head. Aid stations will be set up every three to four miles. The stations will provide water, food and limited emergency/first aid care. Sign in begins at 7:30 AM. The Marathon will start at 8:00 AM. The Half Marathon, and 5 mile run will start at 8:30 AM. Has anyone seen this dog, lost in the area of Alamo Mine Trail? Hi there Mr. Hoffman My nam is Cameron Segura and I live off of Alamo Mine Trail. We recently lost our dog, she ran off and we haven't been able to find her, so I was wondering if you would be able to post something on your site about lost and found or about our lost dog. I am going to post a lost and found flyer on the bulletin board but I'm really trying to find her. Her name Is will and she is wearing a bright orange color. She is a Shiba Inu dog a Japense breed and a big part of our family. I have attached a picture as well. My phone number is 575-497-0289 if you need to reach me. Thank you so much. Cameron Segura If you have seen her, please contact Cameron Seguera, or use the contact page of the web site to contact Janet or the web site coordinator. The local BLM office has been working on extending the present Sierra Vista Trail that now ends at the parking lot on Soledad Canyon Rd east of Ventana View Rd. BLM and the Boy Scouts have extended the trail from Soledad Canyon Rd north to Dripping Springs Rd. The BLM is moving forward with plans for an opening hike on Saturday, November 5th at 9:00 AM for the Sierra Vista Trail extension. We will begin at what will be the northern most trail head off Dripping Springs Road. The turn off (to the right) is approximately 1.8 miles after the end of the pavement and across from the corrals. We will be sure to have signs posted to help guide everyone in. We plan to have refreshments (coffee, pastries, etc.) at the trailhead prior to the commencement of the hike. BLM is working on plans to shuttle hikers back from the Soledad Canyon Road trailhead. Although it will be cooler by then, we still encourage everyone to drink plenty of water in preparation for the hike as well as to carry and drink water during the hike. Dear friends and neighbors: On behalf of our fire chief, the rest of the fire department officers, and all our members we would like to thank everyone who bought a smoked brisket lunch ticket to help support our fire department. Scott Gardenhire and his crew did another great job getting up well before dawn to start smoking the brisket. Thanks, Scott. If you were unable to make it, or were not contacted by someone in the department to get you tickets, we’re sorry we missed you but I think we will do this again next year. It is always an event in which neighbors really enjoy meeting and talking with friends. Thanks again for your support. Daren Bloomquist |
