I-25 at University Interchange, Construction Advisory

The Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority has issued a somewhat confusing advisoriy. The headline states that “I-25 northbound University Ave exit ramp will be CLOSED from Monday, 8/8 to 8/22.” Then the body of the advisory states that the northbound on-ramp at exit 1 will be closed. Here is the full text of the advisory:

I-25 northbound University Ave exit ramp will be CLOSED from Monday, 8/8 to 8/22. See Alternate Routes!

Las Cruces: The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) with Smith and Aguirre Construction will have the northbound on ramp, at exit 1 CLOSED for approximately 2 weeks.

The contractor will need to close this area as they work on removing the existing pavement; placement of a new curb, and pave the surface which will include an extension for the deceleration lane.

The NMDOT is advising motorists to expect delays and recommending that they seek an alternate route by utilizing Lohman, off of I-25, or University exit off of I-10. The closure will allow the workers to complete this portion of the project while securing the safety of the public and workers.

The closure is scheduled for Monday August 8, 2011 and will not be lifted until August 22, 2011. Traffic control devises will be in place informing motorists of this closure.

For more information contact Aaron Chavarria, Resident Engineer of NMDOT District One at (575) 525-7303 or Bridget Spedalieri, NMDOT District One Public Information Officer at (575) 525-7340.
