Sierra Vista Trail Extension Grand Opening Nov 5th

The local BLM office has been working on extending the present Sierra Vista Trail that now ends at the parking lot on Soledad Canyon Rd east of Ventana View Rd.  BLM and the Boy Scouts have extended the trail from Soledad Canyon Rd north to Dripping Springs Rd.  The BLM is moving forward with plans for an opening hike on Saturday, November 5th at 9:00 AM for the Sierra Vista Trail extension. We will begin at what will be the northern most trail head off Dripping Springs Road. The turn off (to the right) is approximately 1.8 miles after the end of the pavement and across from the corrals. We will be sure to have signs posted to help guide everyone in. We plan to have refreshments (coffee, pastries, etc.) at the trailhead prior to the commencement of the hike. BLM is working on plans to shuttle hikers back from the Soledad Canyon Road trailhead. Although it will be cooler by then, we still encourage everyone to drink plenty of water in preparation for the hike as well as to carry and drink water during the hike.
