First Sierra Vista Trail Run Scheduled for Saturday, February 18th

The first Sierra Vista Trail run has been set for Saturday, February 18th. Three distances are available: Marathon, half-marathon, and a 5-mile option. All routes will begin at the Sierra Vista Trail trail head on Soledad Canyon road. The marathon and half marathon will head south and turn around at the Vado trail head and Mossman Arroyo (Bishops Cap) trail heads, respectively. The 5 mile route will head north on the new section of the Sierra Vista Trail and turn around at the Dripping Springs road trail head.  Aid stations will be set up every three to four miles.  The stations will provide water, food and limited emergency/first aid care.

Sign in begins at 7:30 AM. The Marathon will start at 8:00 AM.  The Half Marathon, and 5 mile run will start at 8:30 AM. A cook-out will begin at 12 Noon. All runners should be off the course by 5:00 PM.

This is the first organized Sierra Vista Trail Run. It is a free event, co-sponsored by The Bureau of Land Management.
