UDC Adopted, December 13th, 2016
The BOCC voted to adopt the UDC, with Amendments, on December 13th, 2016.
Sharon Thomas wrote an opinion in the Las Cruces Sun News, and is partially quoted in the following:
The UDC is designed to implement the county’s Comprehensive Plan, adopted by the County Commission in August, 2015…
Besides implementing goals of the Comprehensive Plan, the UDC is designed to update and design all county subdivision, drainage, zoning, and engineering standards into a single, coherent code for future development…
The current version of the UDC was unanimously recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission in their Oct. 13th meeting and sent to the County Commission…
After hearing concerns by residents and county staff the BOCC forwarded those items to the P&Z for review.
The P&Z reviewed the BOCC list of items on Nov. 17th and Dec. 1st, and sent their recommendations back to the BOCC. These items were approved and added as amendments to the UDC that was then adopted at the BOCC public hearing Dec. 13th, 2016.
Thank you to all those residents who contributed their time and energy in support of changing the UDC zoning for our area. We made a difference!
