Sierra Vista Trail Runs – Saturday, March 11, 2023
From Dan Carter, President Southern New Mexico Trail Alliance.
Sierra Vista Trail Runs is happening this Saturday, March 11, 2023. This is the 12th year of the event, similar to past years. Residents will experience a temporary increase in pedestrian traffic on the Sierra Vista Trail, La Maria Loops, and road crossings on Soledad Canyon and Dripping Springs.
There will be vehicles parked along Dripping Springs Road on Saturday morning. Safety road signs will be placed on Soledad Canyon and Dripping Springs roads. The trails will be marked with flags and signs. These will be placed throughout the coming week and will be taken down within 3 days after the race. Aid stations and operations will be set up at the Sierra Norte and Talavera trailheads. This will consist of tents, table, chairs, porta potties, and start/finish equipment at the Sierra Norte trailhead.
The event is permitted under a Special Recreation Permit with the BLM and Dona Ana County and insured through USA Track and Field.
